After spending a couple of years CCD imaging deep sky objects, I began to wonder if there was something better to use the CCD on. I had been interested in photometry ever since I did a project on CCD photometry during my honours year at university, so when I began to hear about asteroid photometry I became very interested. The more I learned, the more interested I became. Eventually I travelled to the USA to attend a conference on asteroids in Tuscon (Minor Planet Amateur Professional Workshop 2001). By this time I was firmly hooked! Ever since, asteroid photometry has absorbed the bulk of my observing time. In more recent times I have started re-observing several of the asteroids I worked on previously with the aim of modelling their 3-dimensional shape. Over the years I have published some 23 papers on my results as well as presenting several papers orally. It has also been fun watching students get involved, with several of them getting papers published as well.
