Asteroid 16959 1998 QE17

16959 1998 QE17 is a main belt asteroid with an estimated diameter of 5 km. It was discovered on August 17 1998, by LINEAR at Socorro. The semi-major axis is 2.22 AU, the eccentricity is 0.307 and the inclination is 10.63 degrees.

Only three nights of observations, over a three-week interval during December 2007, were possible for this asteroid due to the closure of the campus observatory for maintenance. The data could not be fitted to a simple, two-peaked graph. The most reasonable result is the 6.316 h period presented here, which contained four peaks. However this result is quite doubtful and more observations of this asteroid are required.
