Asteroid 9936 Al-Biruni


Asteroid 9936 Al-Biruni is a main belt asteroid with an estimated diameter of 20 km. It was discovered on August 8, 1986 by Eric Elst and Violeta Ivanova at the Bulgarian National Astronomical Observatory in Smolyan. The semi-major axis is 3.07 AU, the eccentricity is 0.191 and the inclination is 15.48 degrees.

Observations were made on seven nights during the period from August 8 to August 18, 2002, using either 60 or 90 second exposures. A total of 285 observations were used in the solution. The resulting analysis showed an asymmetric lightcurve with a period of 10.704 hours.
