Asteroid 1840 Hus

1840 Hus is a main belt asteroid with an estimated diameter of about 20 km. It was discovered on August 31, 1954 by K. Reinmuth at Heidelberg. The semi-major axis is 2.67 AU, the eccentricity is 0.116 and the inclination is 4.03 degrees.

This asteroid was observed on four nights during June 2009 when it was in the same field as another asteroid that I was targeting. The results were noisy, but indicated an asymmetric lightcurve with a period of 4.78 hours. Given the scatter in the data, this result is very uncertain.

2003 lightcurve results for 1840 Hus. Derived period 4.78 ± 0.002 hours. Amplitude 1.1 ± 0.03 magnitude.
