Asteroid 970 Primula


970 Primula is a main belt asteroid with an estimated diameter of about 10 km. It was discovered on November 29, 1921 by K. Reinmuth in Heidelburg. The semi-major axis is 2.564 AU, the eccentricity is 0.270 and the inclination is 5.027 degrees.

I first observed this asteroid over five nights between November 9, 20003 and January 11, 2004. The derived period was 2.721 hours and the amplitude 0.3 magnitude.

Further observations were obtained in 2011. this time over seven nights between August 19 and October 2. The results confirmed the earlier observations with the derived period being 2.7768 hours and the amplitude 0.3 magnitude. The lightcurve was noticably asymmetric.
