Asteroid 42144 2001 BW40


42144 2001 BW40 is a main-belt asteroid with an estimated diameter of 5 km. It was discovered on January 24, 2001, by LINEAR at Socorro. The semi-major axis is 2.22 AU, the eccentricity is 0.285 and the inclination is 12.51 degrees.

Asteroid 42144 2001 BW40, was observed on 2 nights during early June, 2007 when it was in the field of another asteroid I was studying. Analysis of the data indicated that only a portion of the lightcurve was observed and that the lightcurve was somewhat noisy. The lightcurve shown below was the best fit to the data but the actual period is almost certainly much longer than shown below.
