THE MOON

The moon is frequently cursed by amateur astronomers as a pest that drowns out all those faint deep-sky objects. A full moon during the maxmum of a meteor shower can ruin the whole show. However try to imagine what life would be like without the moon! No eclipses; no tides; no spectacular sight in the telescope to wow your non-astronomer friends..... the list could go on. So, instead of just cursing the moon, why not make use of it and enjoy the view?

The images below show just a few of the wonderful sights available when even just a small telescope it aimed at our nearest neighbour.
