Bachelor of Science in Physics: Astrophysics Concentration
Overview
A variation of the professional concentration for students who have particular interest in astronomy and astrophysics intended to prepare students who, in addition to the possible employment paths associated with the professional concentration, may want to pursue graduate study in astronomy or astrophysics. This concentration has the same mathematics requirements as the professional option, very similar physics course requirements (with one less required upper level PHYS course), and also includes 14 hours of ASTR courses. Majors in this concentration are strongly encouraged to minor in mathematics. Choice of a different minor will result in a student needing to take more than 120 hours to complete their degree. Students are strongly encouraged to devote time to undergraduate research. For additional details, see the Undergraduate Booklet.
