studies of X-ray binaries

cluster black hole searches
This is a bit out of date. In recent years I have been doing a lot of work on
these topics, as well as accretion physics in X-ray binaries. I have also
been doing a lot of work on science case development for future X-ray and
radio/mm telescopes.
Interdisciplinary studies students
and engineering students:
If you have been offered admission to the interdisciplinary studies program or
a program in some other department on campus like engineering,
but not to the Department of Physics and Astronomy, I am not in a position to
offer you an assistantship. It is possible that I will work with engineering
or computer science students on a collaborative project with their advisors,
but in no case will cold calling me lead to funding.
Occasionally, teaching assistants from other departments are hired in our
department, but this is all done via the teaching laboratory directors, and
not by faculty, so please do not contact faculty with requests for teaching
assistant positions.
