Recent research into how student's best learn concepts in physics has shown that student participation in arriving at "answers" is much more effective than traditional lecture methods. To facilitate this participation, the instructor will make use of demonstrations, "improving concept understanding" exercises, and guided class discussion. It is the student's responsibility to come to class prepared. In addition to reading the assigned material before hand, you will need to bring a calculator and have it out on your desk and ready to use when the instructor asks you to do so.
