Vela Supernova Remnent

The Vela Supernova Remnent, sometimes known as the Gum Nebula, is a huge but faint supernova remnent covering most of the constellation Vela. In the image above, the supernova remnent covers most of the image, with the brightest region being towards the bottom.

Although the nebula is quite faint, many of the filaments are visible in the telescope under dark skies. One of the brighter ones is NGC 2736 .
