USNO 1023-0051547

USNO 1023-0051547 is a 18th magnitude star in the constellation Taurus. I discovered it to be variable in December 2012 on images I had taken on 12 December. Only a portion of the lightcurve was covered, however enough was observed to indicate that the star is a W UMa eclipsing binary with a period of about 6.5 hours. Subsequent observations in 2014 and 2015 confirmed the W UMa nature and enabled a more precise derivation of the period and amplitude as 6.5079 hours and 0.48 magnitudes respectively.
