SCUTUM

30 minutes exposure on Fuji Super G 400 wide format film. 120mm f/2.8 Minolta lens.

Scutum is a small constellation between Sagittarius, Serpens Cauda, and Aquila. Although the individual stars that make up the constellation are relatively faint, the Milky Way is very rich in this location and the constellation is home to many interesting objects. One of the best is M11.

This photograph is centred on Scutum and also includes part of Sagittarius on the right, Serpens Cauda at the top, and Aquila to the left and below. The bright blue star to the lower left is Altair.
