PGC 8571

Combination of 20, 3 minute exposures, SBIG STL-1001E CCD camera.
300mm f/6 newtonian telescope at prime focus.

PGC 8571 is a small, 15.6 magnitude spiral galaxy in Cetus that I stumbled upon while imaging an asteroid. Towards the top right of the image is the beautiful 15.6 magnitude, face-on spiral galaxy PGC 8575. Both of these would be an interesting challenge for visual observers with a large telescope. There are a number of fainter PGC galaxies visible in the image. The short streak near the centre of the image is the asteroid.
