PGC 71538, also known as the Pegasus Dwarf, is very large and faint member of the Local Group. The catalogue magnitude is 13.0, which would imply the galaxy is not difficult. However the surface brightness is quite low, and the galaxy is much more difficult to observe than the catalogue magnitude implies This object would make an interesting challenge for visual observers with very large telescopes.

The small galaxy partly behind PGC 71538 is the 16.7 magnitude PGC 214961.
