PGC 54074, also known as the Ursa Minor Dwarf, is very large and extremely faint member of the Local Group. As the common name implies, the galaxy is located in Ursa Minor. Although the catalogue magnitude is 15.7, the light is spread out over an area almost as large as the Moon, some 30' x 20' in size, so the surface brightness is extremely low. This is fairly common for the dwarf members of the Local Group. The image above is centred on the galaxy, which runs from the top left, to the bottom right. Only the slightest traces of the galaxy have been recorded in the image.
