Pavo

40 minutes exposure, Fuji Superia 200 film. 135mm f/3.5 Tamron lens.

To the east of Ara lies the constellation Pavo, lead by the 2nd magnitude star, alpha pavonis. This constellation is almost totally unknown to northern hemisphere observers, yet it contains many interesting deep-sky objects for the telescope. The two most well known are the easy naked-eye globular cluster, NGC 6752, and the large and bright galaxy, NGC 6744.
