M79 NGC 1904

Object Type Globular Cluster
Constellation Lepus
Magnitude 7.7
Size 10.0' x 10.0'

M79 is a moderately bright globular cluster in Lepus. It is fairly compact, with good resolution in an 8" telescope. I particularly like the arc of stars on the south western side of the cluster.

Towards the upper right corner there is a little line of 4 stars. Just to the left of the second one is a little streak. This is the edge-on spiral galaxy, NGC 1886.
