M67 NGC 2682

Object Type Open Cluster
Constellation Cancer
Magnitude 6.9
Size 25.0' x 25.0'

Situated about 8 degrees south and slightly east of the open cluster, M44, is the rich and compact cluster of moderately bright stars, M67. Under dark skies it is just visible to the naked eye, while binoculars will give a good view. In an 8" telescope at low magnification, M67 is a splendid object.

M67 is one of the oldest open clusters, rivaling the age of many globular clusters. This makes it an important object for the astrophysist.
