M4 is a large, bright and very loose globular cluster in Scorpius. Being situated less than 2 degrees west of the bright star Antares (the right orange star) it is easy to find. Visible to the naked eye, it is easily resolved in an 4" telescope.

The region around M4 abounds with interesting objects. There are both bright and dark nebulae, double stars, and another globular cluster, NGC 6144. This is an easy object of an 8" telescope.
