Longmore 1
PNG 255.3 -59.6

Combination of 5, 3 minute exposures, SBIG ST9XE CCD camera.
300mm f/6 newtonian telescope at prime focus.

Longmore 1, also known as PNG 255.3 -59.6, is a fairly large but faint planetary nebula in Eridanus, about 5 degrees south-west of Acamar. No trace of the nebula was visible in a 12" telescope and to date, I know of no visual observations of this object. You can see why from its appearence in the image!

There are numerous faint, anonymous galaxies in the image. The brightest of these is to the lower right in the nebula and is fainter than 16th magnitude.
