6" f/3.75 schmidt-newtonian telescope at prime focus.

Notice the distortion in the ion tail close to the coma. Compare the position of this feature to its position the following night in the images below. The dust tail can just be seen as a faint, broad feature below the ion tail. On this night, the comet was magnitude 3.9 with a 20' diameter coma and a 0.5 degree tail.
