These photographs were taken around the time when the comet had reached its peak brightness. The comet was around magnitude 6.7 and displayed a fine tail. The small cluster at the left of the pictures is M67.

Following these observations, the comet was soon lost in the evening twilight as it approached perihelion. After perihelion, the comet was too far north to be observed from the southern hemisphere.
