IC 5148 is a small but moderately bright planetary nebula in Grus. Although it is very low for northern observers, from the southern hemisphere it is a very nice object. In an 8" telescope, it appears as a small disk that is a little darker in the centre. In a 12", it is clearly annular. The nebula shows a good responce to an OIII filter.
