IC 4499 is a small and faint globular cluster in Apus. It holds the distinction of being the closest globular cluster to the south celestial pole, with a declination of -82. It is visible in an 8" telescope as a small circular patch. Some resolution is possible with a 12" telescope if the skies are dark.
