IC 2169

Combination of 10, 3 minute exposures using red, green and blue filters.
SBIG STL-1001E CCD. 5" f/5 refractor at prime focus.

IC 2169 is a faint reflection nebula in Monoceros, located close to NGC 2284, the "Cone Nebula".

The nebula is a small part of a larger dark dusty nebula which stretches to the north and east. Where there is a bright sar embedded within this nebulosity, it reflects starlight. Several of these are visible in the above image. Directly above IC 2169 is IC 2167, while to the upper left are NGC 2245 and NGC 2247.
