IC 1438

Combination of 20, 3 minute images unfiltered.
SBIG ST8-XE CCD. 14" f/11 schmidt-cassegrain telescope with an f/6.3 focal reducer.

IC 1438 is a small, barred spiral galaxy in Aquarius. At magnitude 11.7, it is not a difficult object for an 8" telescope under dark skies. More challenging is IC 1439, located just to the left of IC 1438. At magnitude 14.9 this would probably require at least a 10" telescope.
