20 minutes exposure. Fuji Super HG V 400 film. 5" f/5 refractor at prime focus.
The brightness of the comet may be gauged from the object to the lower right, near the bright star in the lower right corner. This is the 9.5 magnitude globular cluster NGC 6366.
By The middle of October, comet Hale-Bopp was drifting past the bright globular cluster M14, visible in the image below to the left of the comet.
