NGC 1980 is number 64 in the Herschel 400 list. NGC 1980 is a very scattered cluster of brightstars in Orion, surrounding the 3rd magnitude star, iota orionis. The faint wisps of nebulosity visible in the image above are some of the fainter outer reaches of M42.
