NGC 7727 is number 397 in the Herschel 400 list. This is a face-on, barred spiral galaxy in Aquarius. The outer spiral arms seem somewhat distorted, and possibly the galaxy has been involved in a relatively recent interaction with another galaxy. At the right-hand edge of the image is the 13.5 magnitude galaxy NGC 7724. The radial velocity of this galaxy is around 200 km/s less than NGC 7727, so it is unlikely that this galaxy had a close encounter with NGC 7727.
