SBIG STL-1001E CCD. 20" f/6.8 Dall-Kirkham cassegrain telescope at prime focus.

The beautiful face-on sprial galaxy, NGC 6946, is number 373 in the Herschel 400 list. A fairly small and moderately bright planetary nebula in Cepheus. Despite being heavily obscured by the Milky Way, the galaxy is still quite bright and readily visible in the telescope.

Visual Observation Notes:- NGC 6946.

Very large. Moderately faint. Very slightly brighter in centre. Some hint of spiral arms.
18" f/5 newtonian. 16mm nagler eyepiece. 143x.
Sky View observatory. Zenith limiting magnitude 6.7.
