NGC 3982 is the fairly small spiral galaxy near the lower right corner, while NGC 3998 is the fairly large elliptical galaxy in the upper left. Close beside NGC 3398 is the 13.5 magnitude NGC 3990, while the edge-on spiral at the right edge is the 13.0 magnitude NGC 3972. To the upper left of NGC 3972 is the 13.6 magnitude NGC 3977.

Visual Observation Notes:- NGC 3982.

Relatively small but bright with a brighter centre. Circular. NGC 3972, NGC 3977, NGC 3990 and NGC 3998 also visible in the same field.
18" f/5 newtonian. 16mm nagler eyepiece. 143x.
Sky View observatory. Zenith limiting magnitude 6.7.

Visual Observation Notes:- NGC 3998.

Brighter and larger than NGC 3982. Bright centre surrounded by a smoothly fading halo. Pair with NGC 3990.
18" f/5 newtonian. 16mm nagler eyepiece. 143x.
Sky View observatory. Zenith limiting magnitude 6.7.
