SBIG STL-1001E CCD. 20" f/6.8 Dall-Kirkham cassegrain telescope at prime focus.
Number 129 in the Herschel 400 list is NGC 2859, a rather small and moderately spiral galaxy in Leo Minor. It is classified as SB0, but the halo appears as a circular ring apparently detached from the inner disk. This outher halo was not noticed visually.
Visual Observation Notes.
Fairly small with a bright centre surrounded by a faint, circular outer haze.
18" f/5 newtonian. 16mm nagler eyepiece. 143x.
Sky View observatory. Zenith limiting magnitude 6.7.
