October 29, 2001

My second auroral display in Minnesota came less than 3 weeks after the first, on October 29, 2001. As with the previous display, this one started as a greenish arc low on the northern horizon. The arc quickly became brighter and moved higher up in the sky. After a short while, it developed curtains and many streamers.

As the display continued to intensify, the curtains became larger and brighter, and developed a red colouration at the top. Red rays also became visible.
