Abell 82 is one of the easier Abell planetaries to observe visually. From a dark location it is visible with an 8" telescope with an OIII filter. Located in Casseopia, the planetary is moderately large, and has a quoted magnitude of 12.7, spread out over an area about 1.5 arc minutes across.
