Abell 66
PK 19 -23.1

Combination of 2, 3 minute exposures, Meade 416XTE.
300mm f/6 newtonian at prime focus.

Abell 66 is a fairly large, and very low surface brightness planetary nebula in eastern Sagittarius, about 3 degrees north-west of the globular cluster M 75. The magnitude is quoted as 14.9, but the light is spread out over and area 4.5 arc minutes in diameter. A VERY vague hint of the planetary was visible in a 17.5" telescope under 7.4 magnitude skies. However it was a very dubious sighting, only brief glimpses with averted vision were possible.

Combination of 20, 3 minute images, SBIG STL-1001E CCD.
20" f/6.8 cassegrain at prime focus.
