16" f/10 schmidt-cassegrain with an f/6.3 focal reducer.

As with most Abell planetaries, Abell 24 is a large and faint object. At magnitude 13.6 and a diameter of about 6 arc minutes, the surface brightness is low, making it a challenging object for visual observers. The above image is almost 2 hours exposure, yet still the nebula is quite faint!

Abell 24 is located in Canis minor, about 5 degrees south-east of Procyon.
