SBIG STL-1001E CCD. 20" f/6.8 Dall-Kirkham cassegrain telescope at prime focus.

Abell 1 is a very faint, and relatively small planetary nebula in Cepheus. The magnitude is quoted as 18.0. No trace of the planetary was visible in a 18" telescope.

In the image above, the location of the planetary is indicated by the white lines. Only the vaguest of traces of the planetary are faintly visible, all but totally lost in the noise.
