NGC 7550

Combination of 20, 3 minute images unfiltered.
SBIG STL-1001E CCD. 20" f/6.8 Dall-Kirkham cassegrain telescope at prime focus.

NGC 7550 is the brightest member of a small group of galaxies in Pegasus. It is a large eliptical galaxy that shines at a magnitude of 12.2, making it easily visible in an 8" telescope. Just to the north of NGC 7550 is a beautiful barred spiral galaxy, NGC 7549. Other bright members of the group are indicated in the image and table below. All of these are bright enough to be visible in an 18" telescope. In addition to the 5 galixies indicated, there are several more very faint galaxies in the image.
