NGC 7125

Combination of 10, 3 minute exposures, SBIG ST9XE CCD camera.
300mm f/6 newtonian telescope at prime focus.

NGC 7125 and NGC 7126 are a pair of 12th magnitude spiral galaxies in Indus. They are typical of a large number of galaxies visible across a large area of the southern sky around Indus, Pavo, Tucana and Grus, that are part of the Grus-Indus galaxy cluster, which is situated about million light years away.

NGC 7125 is a beautiful face-on spiral with bright, fairly open arms and a small central bulge with a bright nucleus. NGC 7126 is more tilted to our line of sight, and has a much larger and brighter central bulge, and weak, faint arms.
