NGC 6946

Combination of 27, 3 minute exposures, SBIG ST-8XE CCD.
300mm f/3.5 Tamron lens.

NGC 6946 is a large and beautiful face-on, spiral galaxy on the Cygnus-Cepheus border. Although bright, it is a difficult object in a small telescope unless the skies are dark, because it has a low surface brightness. In a 10" telescope it appears as a faint, circular haze with a bright centre.
