NGC 6781

Combination of 10, 1 minute exposures, SBIG ST-8E CCD.
8" f/6.3 schmidt-cassegrain at prime focus.

NGC 6781 is a moderately large and bright planetary nebula in Aquila, about 10 degrees west and 2 degrees south of Altair. It is easily visible in an 8" telescope as a small, circular haze of light with a slightly darker centre. As can be seen from the image above, the planetary lies in a rich portion of the Milky Way, which makes for a very pleasing view.
