NGC 6772

SBIG STL-1001E CCD. 20" f/6.8 Dall-Kirkham cassegrain telescope at prime focus.

NGC 6772 is a moderately large and bright planetary nebula in Aquila, about 10 degrees west and 2 degrees south of Altair. It is easily visible in an 18" telescope as a small, circular haze of light with a slightly darker centre. As can be seen from the image above, the planetary lies in a rich portion of the Milky Way, which makes for a very pleasing view.
