NGC 6541, a large, and bright globular cluster in Scorpius that is easy to observe but difficult to resolve in an 8" telescope. It is situated in a rich portion of the Milky Way and is a good object for small telescopes.
Scorpius has to be one of the most impressive constellations in the sky. Containing numerous bright stars and situated almost entirely within one of the richest portions of the Milky Way, it is not only an interesting region for naked eye observation, but it contains a large number of fine deep-sky objects. Over 20 of these are globular clusters.
