NGC 6027
Seyfert's Sextet

Combination of 10, 3 minute exposures, SBIG ST-9XE CCD.
16" f/10 schmidt-cassegrain telescope with an f/6.3 focal reducer.

On the border between Serpens and Hercules, is a small group of 6, apparently interacting, galaxies, NGC 6027, NGC 6027A, NGC 6027B, NGC 6027C, NGC 6027D, and NGC 6027E. This group is known as Seyfert's Sextet or Hickson 79. At magnitude 13.8, NGC 6027 is the brightest in the group, while NGC 6027D is the faintest at magnitude 16.5. The galaxies are easily visible in a 10" telescope as several hazy patches of light, looking somewhat like a slightly out of focus triple star.
