NGC 5986


45 minutes exposure, Agfa HDC 400 film.
5" f/5 refractor, prime focus.

In northern Lupus near the border with Scorpius, is another moderately large and reasonably bright, but neglected globular cluster, NGC 5986. It is actually quite a good object and in an 8" telescope some resolution of the outer regions is achieved.

About 1.5 degrees to the west, is the slightly larger and brighter NGC 5927
