NGC 5838 is a fairly bright elliptical galaxy located in Virgo. Among the fainter galaxies in the field, the 17.8 magnitude PGC 1217780 is the edge-on galaxy at the centre right, the 16.4 magnitude PGC 1218738 is at the centre left, while the 17.0 magnitude PGC 1217511 is just above NGC 5838.
