NGC 5566

Combination of 3, 3 minute images, Meade 416XTE CCD.
300mm f/6 newtonian at prime focus.

NGC 5566 is a the largest and brightest of a group of three galaxies in Virgo. The two companions are, on the lower right, NGC 5565, and on the left, NGC 5568. NGC 5566 is easily visible in an 8" telescope while the two companions are visible in a 12".

An interesting point to note. The above image was taken in bright twilight, with the last finishing less than 10 minutes before sunrise! The limiting magnitude at the time was less than 3!! This is a good illustration of how a CCD can be used successfully even under very bright skies.

Combination of 20, 3 minute exposures, SBIG STL-1001E CCD camera.

Combination of 5, 3 minute images unfiltered.
