SBIG STL-1001E CCD. 20" f/6.8 Dall-Kirkham cassegrain telescope at prime focus.

NGC 4631 is commonly known as the Whale Galaxy because of its appearence in photographs. Located in Canes Venatici, NGC 4631 appeared very large with a very slightly brighter but wider centre. Mottling was also visible along the length with an 18" telescope. NGC 4627 was easily visible in same field.
