NGC 4618

Combination of 5, 3 minute images unfiltered.
SBIG STL-1001E CCD. 20" f/6.8 Dall-Kirkham cassegrain telescope at prime focus.

NGC 4618, located in Canes Venatici, is somewhat unusual for a spiral, having one very bright arm and one rather dim. The brighter arm is also a little detached from the rest of the disk. Perhaps there was a close encounter with IC 3675, the bright galaxy to the upper left.
